For writing out my storyboards, ARIAGATO GOZAIMASU; Meje-i-moto-sama.

3rd story: Hanami –Sakura’s bloom
Chapter 2: The Heart of the Paper Fan

As Shiori opened the Karaoke session, Sakura was quite surprised by the person materializing behind her. “What’s wrong, Sasuke-kun?”
“Would you care for a walk? It’s getting a bit too loud in here for my taste.” he said, avoiding her eyes, offering a hand.
And there he goes again with the ‘Sasuke-idiocy’…’ “Sure, why not?” she said with a smile, taking his hand.
Sasuke helped her to her feet and led her out of the festival hall, concentrating on not being too unkind and avoiding her eyes. At the entrance, he put on his geta while she put on a pair of light pink zori.
Sasuke lead Sakura to Sakura Grove around the festival hall. A full moon and several stars lit the night up. It was around nine in the evening. The party would last at least three more hours, most likely longer.
‘Where’s he taking us to?’ Sakura thought, while she followed Sasuke. She looked at Sasuke’s hand that was holding hers.
‘Why is he sweating?’
Meanwhile Sasuke was trying to come up with a sentence to say, but his nervousness didn’t help him much. What should he say? He had no idea and that bugged him.

“Sasuke, where are we going?” Sakura asked then. Sasuke looked at her for a moment, before he averted his gaze to a nearby cherry tree. “Let’s…let’s sit down,” Sasuke finally said. Sakura watched him as he sat down on a bench. “Sasuke, since you’re back you’re acting weird. As if you’re nervous or so… I don’t understand.” “M-maybe…” Sasuke mumbled as he avoided eye contact. ‘Crap, how do I tell her; it’s more difficult than any jutsu I ever learnt.’ “See, there you go again. The Sasuke I remember never averted his gaze or mumbled, stuttered or whatever…” ‘…isn’t it clear why I act like that?’  “You’re acting like an idiot…” Suddenly, her constant flood of speech was too much. “WOULD YOU PLEASE BE QUIET FOR A MOMENT SO I CAN TELL YOU that I love you…” Sakura abruptly stopped talking, but her mouth was still open as she looked Sasuke, who had started to realise what he just said and blushed. ‘Crap, I really did it the worst possible way: I yelled and ended in a decrescendo… I'm sorry, Shiori-sama.’

It was silent for a while and the two just stared at each other. The wind blew the cherry blossoms in the air and they danced around the two. “Wh-what did you say?” Sakura whispered, believing she had heard it wrong.
“Was there ever anyone else but you, Sakura-chan?”
A slight blush appeared on Sakura’s cheeks as the corners of her eyes started to water. Sasuke got one of the cherry blossoms out of the air and looked at Sakura again. He gently put some of hair behind her ear and put the blossom in her hair.
“I love you Sakura-chan,” he whispered as he leaned over to kiss her. Sakura, still somewhat in a shocked bliss, kissed him back after a while. Not yet believing all of this was happening. When they parted Sakura was still in tears and looked the grass down below.

“Why? Why are you saying that now? Why not back then?” “Because I wanted to keep you save from Itachi. By keeping you away Itachi couldn’t use the bond we had against us. Just…” Sasuke stopped to think his words over, “just look at what I almost did to Naruto,” he whispered then in a bitter tone. Sakura nodded, while she looked at him and his pained face. “Only to kill my brother, I was such a fool…”
Sakura agreed in silence. Sasuke looked over at her. “You want proof that I liked you at that time, don’t you?” Again Sakura only nodded. “Can you remember that tree climbing exercise we had in the Land of Waves?” “Yes, I was finished before you and… Naruto.” “Yeah, sorry for not saying at that time, but I was impressed. Anyhow, I saw you helped Naruto. You told him something and soon after that he started to understand how to do it. I went over him to ask him what you had told him, jealous that you hadn’t told me.” “But… you got much higher than Naruto when I…” “That was the highest I came. Naruto wouldn’t tell me what you said to him.” “You could have asked,” Sakura said softly. “That was a bad idea, don’t you think. You still acted somewhat fan girlish at that time, it would have given you hopes, what would have made it harder for me to… ignore you….”

There was a silence, not an awkward one, filled with thoughts about what had happened in the old days when Naruto was still alive and they were all together. “Then…what about that night you left?” Sakura asked, not looking at Sasuke. If she had, she would have noticed the little blush that had come on his face. “That night you made it really difficult for me.” “What do you mean?” “You shouted the words ‘I love you’, I knew that of course, but hearing you say them, that is something completely different. I almost turned around, I should have turned around. Like I said, I was a fool. I don’t know what would have happened if Shishou-sama (Honourable Teacher) hadn’t removed the cursed seal.” “I think the marriage wouldn't be at this very moment, but would have been sometime in the near future and I… I would be very depressed,” Sakura said ending with a sad tone. “Depressed?” Sasuke repeated. “You left and… no more Naruto… everyone around me getting happier… it’s depressing for me.” After a moment or two Sasuke asked, “how…how did Naruto die?” A few tears rolled down Sakura’s cheeks before she spoke. “Sound was attacking the village, attempting to bring us down like during the Chu-nin exam. We all were fighting and accomplished to defeat loads of Sound-nin. Especially Naruto, but also Nekomata-senpai had killed hundreds. I don’t know what exactly happened, but with some earth jutsu the Sound ninja let huge rocks follow Naruto when he was the only one fighting. They all fell on him… Shino’s bug returned and Nekomata-senpai couldn’t see his life-force anymore. We had to run for some Sound-nin, but most of them retreated soon after Naruto died.” Sakura who had been able to keep herself from crying while telling, had to stop to keep herself under control. “When… when we returned, the boulders were removed and we saw blood on several places, but the trail stopped. The Sound must have taken him with them. It might be difficult for us, Hinata got the real shock.” Sakura rubbed away some of her tears while Sasuke questioning at her. “Hinata?” Sasuke had seen Hinata a few times, her sad face wasn’t something he missed, but why was Naruto’s death so shocking for her?
“Why Hinata?” “Because she’s Naruto’s girlfriend,” Sakura answered not looking at Sasuke, “and…” “Hinata is… pregnant. Yes, I’ve noticed already.” “Yes.” “Don’t tell me Naruto is…” “He is; that’s why it’s so hard for Hinata.”
Sasuke leaned back and looked up at the cherry tree they were sitting under. “The dope got his girlfriend pregnant and died,” he whispered in shocked disbelieve. “Don’t call Naruto that!” Sakura suddenly snapped to him, what made Sasuke almost fall of the bench. “He wasn’t that much of an idiot anymore…” “I didn’t mean it that way, Sakura-chan,” Sasuke said a little panicked, “it’s what I always called him; Old habits die hard. S-sorry,” he ended, looking down to his feet.
Sakura nodded that she understood, whispered an ‘ok’ and rubbed away her tears, what wasn’t much use. Sasuke looked at her out of the corners of his eyes, hesitated somewhat, turned to her and gently grasped her hand. Sakura was in another shocked moment as Sasuke pulled her closer into a hug. “S…Sasuke?” “What happened to the suffix?” “I…I…” Sakura started, but couldn’t find the answer. “It’s okay, don’t worry,” Sasuke said. This made the pink haired kunoichi cry more and Sasuke did an effort I comforting her.

They sat there for what felt like an eternity. Sakura had slowly stopped crying and moved a bit away from Sasuke. “Thank you,” she whispered. “Ai shite'ru yo [愛してるよ, I love you (for certain)], Sakura-chan,” Sasuke whispered in her ear. “Do you… really mean that?” “Of course, did I ever lie?” “Well, it seems like it,” Sakura said referring to his behaviour when they were younger. Sasuke gained a smile on his face and laughed a bit. “Touché,” he grinned. Sakura smiled as Sasuke made her face him. “A smile suits you more,” he said and placed his lips on hers once again. ‘Sasuke-kun…’
Above all, only the associates of Keisuke’s and Inariko’s masters, the moon (Tsukuyomi) and the clouds (Susanoo) were watching now…
Again, I was in the mood to post that...
